A library and community center devoted to life-long learning, entertainment, and access to information for the people of Highland County, Virginia, and surrounding areas.

Highland County Public Library is a 501(c)3 non-profit supported by private donations, grants, and local, state, and federal government funding.

Books and Materials:

The library has approximately 23,000 volumes of material in the form of books, periodicals, audiobooks, DVDs, microfilm, and bound genealogies.

With the exception of the reference and genealogy categories, all materials are available for a checkout period of two weeks. Materials may be renewed unless they are on hold for another patron.

We encourage our patrons to be responsible and accountable for the care of our books and for returning them in the allotted time period. HCPL is a fine free library.

Interlibrary Loan - Items not found in our library may be borrowed from another library for a fee of $2.00 to help pay for return shipping. Items newer than six months old are not available. We do not borrow videos or audios.

Computers:

We have five internet access computers available for patron use. Each patron is entitled to thirty minutes of use, and may continue online until a line forms, then it is first in, first out. All computer users are encourage to refer to our Internet Use Policy. Use of our computers implies consent to our policy. Both black and white and color printing are available at the internet access computers.

We have two iPads available for use in the collaborative meeting/work area. For children we have an AWE Early Learning computer and an AWE Afternoon Edge computer. The children's computers are not connected to the internet.

Wifi is free for patron use. The WiFi password is found at the front desk.

Business Resources:

Copier - makes letter and legal size copies. 10 cents for copies of library materials, 25 cents for personal papers.

Fax Machine - Outgoing, $2 for first page, 50 cents each page after. Incoming, $1 for first page, 25 cents each page after.
