POLICIES CONCERNING THE USE OF THE MOUNTAIN VIEW ROOM
Highland County Public Library

The Highland County Public Library Meeting Room (the Mountain View Room) may be used publicly by any organization, provided it is engaged in educational, cultural, intellectual, or charitable activities. Individual use of the meeting room is allowed for approved private gatherings. For all uses the following requirements must be met:

The reservation form must be completely filled out and submitted to the Librarian. This can be done in person, or by leaving the completed form by the library and confirming it by phone. THE RESERVATION IS NOT COMPLETED UNTIL CONFIRMED WITH THE LIBRARIAN.

The day and event are recorded on the master calendar, kept by the librarian.

If the room is to be used over an extended period of time (more than 6 consecutive weeks), the use must be approved by the Library Board.

A specified adult is responsible for:
Getting and returning the key to the Sheriff’s Office.
The way the room is used during the event.
Any damage or loss to the building and/or its contents.
Leaving the building clean and locked.

Public use of the Mountain View Meeting Room must be cleared by the librarian. Examples of unacceptable public use include:
Marketing, sales, or promotion of any good or service.
Fundraising by any group other than the library.
Broadcasting inflammatory, derogatory, offensive, or inappropriate material (print, audio, or video)

The individual signing the Reservation Form assumes all responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged items during his/her reservation. The use of the Audio/Visual equipment must be approved by the librarian prior to the meeting date. A condition of approval may be the requirement of a brief training session on the equipment with the librarian.

The name, address, phone number and logo of the Library may not be used by any non-library group using the meeting rooms to publicize its activities in such a way as to imply library sponsorship.

Unless the librarian or designated representative is present, only the Mountain View Room and adjoining rest room are to be used.

Maximum Occupancy is set by the Monterey Fire Department at 70.

Any group failing to abide by these rules forfeits its right to use the Highland County Public Library as a meeting place.
