HCPL Celebrates 50th Anniversary in 2025
In 2025 we'll be celebrating 50 years of the Highland County Public Library!
To kick off the celebration we dedicated our Annual Public Meeting on Jan. 12th  to a presentation on the historical timeline of the library. Our early history is a story of triumph over adversity and we're thankful for the library advocates who pushed for a library to be established in Highland County despite the opposition.

We've re-created the historical timeline here on the website so that you can follow the story and be inspired. Library Director Tomi Herold said, "The most important thing I hope that people take from the library's origin story is how much of a grassroots effort it was to get it going and how much it still belongs to the community that built it."
We've created a dedicated 50th Anniversary page as a central location to find additional information about library history, photos, and plans for upcoming special events. You can find the link in the navigation panel. You'll also find a direct link to the history timeline there.
