From the Recorder: Mrs. Mary Richardson of Monterey has been appointed librarian of the Highland County public library, according to an announcement this week by Mrs. Linda Krantz, administrative director of the Botetourt-Rockbridge Regional Library.
Mrs. Richardson is one of ten county residents who applied for the position. She will begin work this month with training at the regional library in Lexington. According to Mrs. Krantz and Mrs. Amy Vaughn, assistant director at the regional office, Highland County will be the recipient of a federal Title II grant that will fund a full-time librarian, and the county library will be open 40 hours each week, including at least one night per week. The Highland library is now being readied for its opening, which is expected to be in the near future.
