Condensed from The Recorder:

The library opened Tuesday, Dec. 16 with a collection of 1,500 books, some to be kept in the library on a permanent basis, with others on loan from libraries of the Botetourt-Rockbridge Regional Library system. The library will be opened from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; Friday hours will be 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday’s hours will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library will be closed on Mondays.

In addition to books, the library will be offering Bi-Centennial reading lists for adults and young people. Books checked out from the bookmobile may be returned to the library, with no fines charged on bookmobile books as is the usual practice. Books checked from the library, however, will be due in two weeks, with a fine of four cents per day on overdue books.

The county library will have use of a 16mm movie projector and screen, as well as films from the Virginia State Library. A film catalog should arrive within a month, and the library will then be able to have same film programs on hand. Interested groups may contact Mrs. Richardson if they are interested in borrowing the projector and films.
