After receiving approval from the Highland County Board of Supervisors, the Highland Library Association was formed and chose the name for the facility to be the “Highland County Public Library.” They were now officially part of the Botetourt-Rockbridge Regional Library System. While the association worked on securing a location for the library, Bookmobile service to Williamsville, McDowell, Monterey, Doe Hill, Hightown and Blue Grass began. In the first month the bookmobile signed up 150 Highland residents and circulated 500 books.
