Speaking of barriers to use, one good thing that came out of the lockdown was that the library went fine free. Any experienced librarian could tell you that the families that could benefit the most from the library often had sizeable fines and stopped coming because of them. Libraries are for everyone. We wanted to be a model of that. The funds we raised from fines could be recovered elsewhere, so it made perfect sense for us to make the change. To be honest, it has made a real difference in bringing some people back to the library.
