In the last few years our awareness had been growing that we had parents in our community who wanted to do right by their kids by reading to them, but lacked the necessary reading skills to do it themselves. Our solution to help with that problem was to start a collection of books where the read-along capability was provided by an audio player attached to the book. These books are relatively expensive and we’ve been fortunate that Family Assessment and Planning Team and Community Policy and Management Tream grants have been available to help the collection grow. Currently these books are available at early reader, mid-grade, and middle school levels.
